Stjerne’s story 4

Stjerne had felt uneasy for a while now during reverie, in fact ever since she’d been granted the privileged of cleaning the artifact room. It was a room barely ever used so it was only dusted two times a year. And this was the big one that took part every 20th year. Stjerne knew why she was picked, it was another test because at this one they would go into the old rooms with pictures and artifacts taken from wizards. Solskin was there too, so Stjerne had left to a side room with old portraits. She had put much thought into it, of course most of them were females, but one portrait had almost scared Stjerne. “Queen M” it had said at the back of it, the rest of the letters was unreadable, but Stjerne knew instantly who she was. Måne, her own grandmother. She never had gotten to spend time much with the Queen, but she always remembered her as a kind and loving woman.
Queen Måne was always seen with her hedgehog, Selini, more so than she was seen with her husband, but when they were together it was clear to see the love shared between. None the less the rumours said he was the one who brought her down.
But that vial; Stjerne knew it, the sparkles on the picture was long gone from it, and it was much smaller now. So small her mother had managed to hide it and pass it on to Stjerne.

Stjerne reached under her pillow, her mother said it was for good luck and carefree reverie, or had she said sleep. Stjerne wasn’t sure, but why would an elf need something for sleep …
