Today the editor-in-chief wanted me to make a story about the dragons of Izumo. I’ve heard scary tales about dragons, so I dressed in my finest gown hoping it wouldn’t get me eaten and journeyed there. Once I arrived at my destination, I approached the dragons with caution, but they seemed to pay no heed to me. I inched a little closer to get a nice picture, when I heard a male voice somewhere behind me. “You!”

I turned around and saw rather a short man a heavy camera hanging on his shoulder a few steps away.
“Hey, I’m talking to you, woman in a fancy gown! Are you deaf?”
“Uhh, no, I’m-“
“Pssssh!” He waved his hand as if to indicate my reply didn’t matter. “I’m Alexxxandr Reallyhightower, a Famous Fashion Photographer! My supposed model ran off with a random werewolf, because I was a little late from our shoot. I mean it was just two hours; that’s nothing. And of all creatures a werewolf?! Who wants to date werewolf anyway, when you can have a Famous Fashion Photographer… “The small man kept ranting for a while, before he focused on me anew. “Anyway! I need a model urgently and you just happen to stand there in fabulous attire and make up. Now be a dear and back off a little and strike a nice pose for me.” He unshouldered his heavy camera, leaving the strap around his neck and started focusing the lens on me.
“But..”
“Come on now, I don’t have all day!” He interrupted me.

This is not how I had planned to spend my day, but I didn’t seem to be getting rid of him anytime soon and maybe modeling would be fun, so I stepped back and tried to mimic a pose I had seen in a fashion magazine with my best ability.
“No, no, no!” You look like someone shoved a sword in your gut and you’re grasping for a medic! Don’t you know the basics of posing?!” He flailed his arms exasperatedly.
“Well no, because I’m not-“
He dismissed my reply with a flick of his hand. “Let’s try this, stand straight facing me and cross your arms seductively behind your head.”
I grumbled under my breath and did as he asked. “Like this?”
“Oh no, hell no!” He covered his eyes with a hand. “Put those arms down, now! Have you never heard of shaving?! What on earth do they teach in modeling schools these days?!”
“Well, I’m here to-“ I began, but he just interrupted me again.
“Now, stand neutrally facing me. Yes, just like that, and now give me a nice smile.”

I was little by little getting annoyed. The man was rude and didn’t listen to a word I said. A date with a werewolf sounded oh so pleasant compared to this, and I find werewolves quite scary. I sighed and forced a smile on my face.
“Ok, don’t smile! You have horrible teeth! Who’s your dentist, I’d fire him if I were you!” He rolled his eyes irritated before he sent me a conspiratory grin. “By the way, I just so happen to moonlight as a dentist. For a price of mere ten thousand lindens, I’ll give you so flashy teeth they’ll put other models in shame.”
“For the last time, I’m not-“ I started my sentence, my expression probably as sour as my mood, but of course, he wasn’t listening to me, instead he started shooting pictures, so I just shut up mid-sentence and waited for him to be done with it.

“Right! Not bad! I can work with this, although you should really go to a modeling school to learn to pose and get those teeth fixed!” He tossed one of the pictures on my way, shouldered his camera and darted off.
“Now just wait a minute, Mr Reallyhightower! I’m not a model; I will never be a model. I’m a reporter and my teeth are just fine!! You really should learn some manners. No wonder your other model ditched you for a werewolf!!!” I shouted after him before I picked up the picture. It didn’t actually look too bad, perhaps I could use it for my reportage.
